Amazon’s Lovefilm streaming service is getting a dollop of fresh content from across the pond, courtesy of a newly-inked deal with Disney-owned broadcaster ABC. Dubbed ABC TV On Demand, the service launches today with the likes of Lost and Cougar Town, and will see many more shows added over the coming weeks and months.

Other shows to be offered by ABC TV On Demand include Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Brothers & Sisters, Castle and Ghost Whisperer. Shows will be made available as full seasons after their first run on UK pay or network TV, and as with other Lovefilm streaming content will be accessible via your Xbox 360, PS3, iPad, PC and certain web-connected TVs and Blu-ray players.

Last week, in response to Netflix’s £5.99 per month deal launching, it undercut its new rival within hours, launching a £4.99 streaming only plan of its own.
