The Nokia Lumia 710, Nokia’s second Windows Phone for the UK, has been given an official release date. The mid-range phone will go on sale here on 1 February, two and a half months after the flagship Lumia 800.

Nokia has confirmed that the Nokia Lumia 710 will be available to buy in just over a fortnight’s time. While it isn’t talking pricing on contract just yet, the Finnish company quotes an unlocked price of €270 (£225), so we’d expect to see it free on reasonably priced deals.

Nokia Lumia 800 review: Or how I learned to stop worrying and love Windows Phone

The plastic Nokia Lumia 710, which packs in a 3.7-inch 800×480 LCD screen, 1.4GHz processor and 5MP camera, was first revealed back at Nokia World in October. We weren’t nearly as impressed with it as we were the beautiful polycarbonate Lumia 800, and it certainly has its work cut out against mid-range Android phones and Windows Phone rivals such as the HTC Radar and promising looking ZTE Tania. Clove.co.uk is selling the 4.3-inch ZTE Tania for £249.99 unlocked.

The Nokia Lumia 710 may win out though, if Nokia can impress potential customers with its dazzling colours and extra software, such as the free satnav app Nokia Drive. We’ll have a full review in due course, and updates on network availability as and when we get it.

Lumia means whore in Spanish. And it feels right, the Nokia bit of a whore to Microsoft
