IMCIRCLE

The “I’m” company is an innovative tech dream-weaver that’s up until now been best know for the I’m Watch smart timepiece/phone/thing. Now I’m has unveiled its next project, the completely mad I’m Core mobile processor.

I’m Core is a matchbox-sized processor unit that answers a question almost no one was asking: why can’t one processor be used to power all of your devices? I’m’s plan is to launch the I’m Core alongside a phone, tablet and Smart TV set-top box trio known as the I’m Circle.

Why we’re not ready for quad-core phones

Inside the tiny box is a quad-core processor, a SIM card, a GPS unit and, crucially a WiFi connection. Stick it on your keyring and whenever you’re within range of any I’m device the Core will take on the responsibility of powering them.

But why? Well, there’s a couple of advantage to this. First up is the fact that your phone and tablet can be made much slimmer if they’ve not go to to fit all that hardware in. Secondly, it could mean that you’d be able to keep the handset you like while sporadically upgrading its power by buying new Cores.

That’s if it all happens. I’m is suggesting a late 2012 launch, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it never happens. The I’m Core is massively ambitious and has pretty niche appeal. And that’s not to mention the fact that you’d probably have to charge the Core all the bloody time.
