This is a leaked picture of the Sony Ericsson Xperia MT27i, or ‘Pepper’, the handset lined up to replace the Xperia Neo V. Seeing as it’ll be one of the last ever Sony Ericsson handsets, maybe its no wonder that it takes some design cues from the classic Sony Ericsson T610.
The MT27i will boast a 3.7-inch screen, dual-core 1GHz processor and a 5-Meg camera, lumping it right in the middle ground of Android handsets.
Sony phones to spell trouble for Apple
Now that Sony’s swallowed up Ericsson it’s likely that this, alongside the leaked Sony Ercisson Nozomi, will be part of a final hurrah from the mobile manufacturer before the next generation of smartphones sporting just the ‘Sony’ name start to reveal themselves.
The silver and black two-toned design harks back to a golden age for Sony Ericsson – a time in which it was instrumental in popularising the idea of a camera phone with phones like the T610. We’ve no idea if it’s intentional, but it’s certainly fitting.
