It’s here. Netflix UK has launched, positioning itself as the only real subscription movie service to challenge Lovefilm thus far. The launch sees the movie streamer land on a myriad web-enabled devices as of today.

For £5.99 per month, Netflix UK will grant access to unlimited streaming of a large list of movies and TV shows. Netflix UK is also offering a free 1 month trial, although – predictably – you’ll need to hand over your credit card details first.

Want a full list of compatible devices? No worries:

- Web- enabled LG Blu-ray players and home theatre systems
- Mac and Windows PCs
- PlayStation 3
- Wii
- Xbox 360
- Samsung Smart TV
- Philips HD Media Player WD TV Live
- Roku media player
- Apple TV
- iOS phones and tablets
- Android phones and tablets

The movies and TV shows on offer come courtesy of a handsome list of content producers, including All3Media, the BBC, CBS, Channel 4’s 4oD, Disney UK & Ireland, ITV, Lionsgate UK, MGM, Miramax, Momentum Pictures, NBCUniversal, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox and Viacom International Media Networks.

Last week we brought you news that Amazon’s Lovefilm service had tooled up with content from the BBC and ITV, but now the battle’s really on, it’ll be interesting to see which of the two similar movie streaming giants will come out on top. Either way, we as the consumers will probably win.
