LG is at CES 2012 demoing a partnership with VMware, the system that lets you turn a normal, personal smartphone into a locked down work phone at the touch of a button.

The idea is that LG’s future smartphones will be able to offer two distinct styles, the work form of which could be completely controlled and locked by your employer. Looking to end the rigmarole of carrying two phones? You may be in luck.

Your next phone will be your security pass

The handset it’s being shown off on is the LG Revolution locked to Verizon in the US, but Telefonica has signed up to be part of this special union. We don’t know exactly which LG smartphones will be getting VMware love, but expect the company to launch a few flagship handsets over the next few days.

We’ve contact O2 to see if LG VMware handsets will be making an appearance in the UK, but have had no response as yet.
