Lenovo has burst onto the scene at CES 2012 with the Lenovo K91, an Android Ice Cream Sandwich powered TV. The set boasts some decent specs and some promising connectivity, but will Google be happy?
The 55-inch Lenovo K91 is set to land exclusively in China to begin with, and little is known at the moment about how Android 4.0 will actually be integrated, but with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 8GB of storage, access to the Android Market in some way or other is a guarantee.
The Lenovo K91 will work with a slew of Bluetooth inputs such as keyboards and the like, but the real boon is that you’ll be able to control the set with an Android smartphone or tablet.
Google TV’s second coming: The masterplan
Last week we gave our take on how the second coming of Google TV is likely to achieve domination through widespread manufacturer uptake in 2012, but with Lenovo eschewing the service in favour of implementing stock Android 4.0, surely Google won’t be too happy?
The problem Android on mobile phones has had from day one is fragmentation, so you can imagine Google will be wanting to curb that in TV sets from the off. We can only presume that Lenovo’s choice not to include Google TV in favour of Ice Cream Sandwich will have been met with a collective frown by the folk at Google TV.
