The show, which will take place in June, is expected to mark the full launch of the Wii U following its first airing at last year’s show. As such, the pressure is on Microsoft and Sony to provide something in the way of competition other than peddling their now ageing wares.
“You have my personal word on this – the source is exemplary, 100% concrete, ultra high level,” says MCV Editor Ben Parfitt when explaining that both Sony and Microsoft will definitely be bringing new hardware to the table.
Xbox 720 rumours have been spiraling for some time now, but little’s been said of the Playstation 4. Conservative guesses have said that it’ll be at least another year before we saw either console, but with Nintendo putting the pressure on, it does kind of make sense.
If Parfitt’s source is to be believed, our guess would be that these next generation consoles will only have a Wii U-style showing, ahead of a proper launch in 2013. What do you think? Will the promise of new hardware be enough to put people off the Nintendo Wii U?
