Another week, another batch of fanciful designs. Industrial designers produce the kind of tech you can only dream of, largely because they don’t often concern themselves with problems like current tech limitations and physics. …But that doesn’t mean we can’t look at the week’s top designs and hope for the best.

Join us on another look through this week’s best and most beautiful tech designs:

1. Arrow door handle by Eun Ah Kim, Jinhyuk Rho & Maria Rho

Sometimes the best ideas are the simplest. This design is so obvious it makes you wonder why no one’s done it before: cease the confusion of whether to push or pull a door once and for all by turning the handle into a giant arrow. Genius.

2. Lamborghini Avenger watch by Marko Petrovic

A highly difficult-to-make vertical tourbillion movement is the prize here. It’s mounted to look like an engine in a watch with an overall aesthetic built to match the Lamborghini Aventador.

3. Svelte Cam by Vladimir Nikolic

We’re not exactly sure of the ‘svelte’ credentials of this spherical cam, but top marks for making something a bit different, all the same. The slide-out compact proffers a 12.1-Megapixel sensor and an intelligent auto-mode that adjusts itself to any situation in a snap.

4. Toctofono by Andrea de Chirico, Giacomo Meiarini and Gian Marco Vitti

The idea here is for a smart home phone that uses knocking instead of ringing. Knock on the wooden panel and that knock will be replicated on your recipient’s Toctofone. In other words: no more annoying ringtones. It also reminds you of your to-dos when you drop your keys in the bowl at the base.

5. BlueScale Digital Pocket scale by Ehsan Sayyad

A Bluetooth-enabled, impossibly slim caster-like scale that syncs up to your phone. While the idea of being able to measure weight just about flies, the designer expects it to also tell your phne how many calories your food or drink contains. We’re not sure how, but it’d be handy for the January dieting.
