The LG Prada Phone expected to be revealed at an event in London this evening has just sneaked out early, by way of some leaked press shots. Android, meet an Italian fashion house.
The LG Prada Phone 3.0 has been teased, but this is our first proper glimpse at the phone, and confirmation that it will indeed run Android – 2.3 Gingerbread by the looks of things, rather than the newer Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.
The previous two LG Prada phones were straight up dumb phones, though not without a certain charm, while Samsung last year released a version of the Android powered Samsung Galaxy S in association with Armani.
According to Pocketnow, the 8.5mm thin LG Prada Android phone will run on a 1GHz dual-core chip, and that display is a 4.3-inch WVGA panel using LG’s super bright NOVA tech. The camera is an eight megapixel job with 1080p video recording skills.
What’s perhaps most interesting about this LG Prada Android phone is the launcher: LG appears to have gone for a stark monochrome effect we’ve never seen on an Android phone from a major manufacturer before.
Whether that’s enough when the likes of the 720p, dual-core Galaxy Nexus are already on sale, we’ll just have to see tonight. Stay tuned.
