A new Samsung Galaxy Tab rumoured to launch in early 2012 could fuel the rivalry between the South Korean tech giant Apple yet further, due to the inclusion of one groundbreaking feature that’ll beat the iPad 3 to the punch.

That tech is the Retina Display. People have been predicting that the iPad 3 will boast a shiny Retina Display ever since the iPad 2 was announced, but a source close to Samsung claims that the 11.6-inch tablet will land during Mobile World Congress in February, a month or two before the iPad 3.

iPad 3 release date set in stone?

The ‘Retina Display’ effect will come courtesy of an insanely dense 2560 x 1600 resolution screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The effect will be a display with incredibly bright, crisp visuals that, with current tech, will be hard to beat while retaining a reasonable price.

The rumoured Samsung Galaxy Tab 11.6 is expected to power itself with a 2GHz dual-core processor from Exynos, while also sporting NFC tech and Android Ice Cream Sandewich. If it does indeed come out of the gates with a world-beating display, you can bet that Apple will be keen to get Samsung back into court, sharpish.
