Android Beam, the ability to wirelessly chuck files to nearby Ice Cream Sandwich handsets via NFC, is one of the tastiest new features to come to Android. But it might be about to get superseded by Microsoft, if the company’s ‘Beaming’ concept video is a sign of things to come.

The video below is a concept of where Microsoft could take the ‘squirting’ technology from its old Zune handsets next. That feature allowed you to share songs to nearby Zune players, but this is something altogether more impressive. And it’s got a much less stupid name, even if it might be a bit close for comfort for Android users.

See Microsoft’s other bold view of the future

Microsoft Beaming would let Windows Phone handsets or any nearby Windows 8 tablet or computer, or even TV, talk to each other – using WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC in one foul swoop to literally swipe files from one to the other.

Have a look at Microsoft’s concept below; it’s pretty self-explanatory. If Microsoft pulls it off, Android’s Beam functionality may look a bit twee by comparison.

“Windows Phone 7 looks to destroy Android Beam”

You can tilt at windmills all you want in your own time, but would you mind refraining from hurling accusations at people on the site? It’s dull. Thanks in advance.

I’m not stupid enough to buy a phone with few apps, patchy developer support, abysmal battery life and a laggy rebranded WindowsCE.

The only idiots are those that think a new kiddie building block UI means it’s a new OS…

I would have taken you seriously if you were serious, but you obviously just bashing Windows Phone because you care for it in one way or the other let be envy or something along those lines. You don’t even know Windows Phone is if you say its rebranded WindowsCE because its not (do some research). Blocky UI aka Metro is probably the most significant innovation that has happen in UI designs since bread, this UI focuses on information age and not on the actual chrome and shiny-shiny show off like Apple’s UIs. In order to appreciate Metro UI there must be a paradigm change in ones mind, but unfortunately you are intellectually not mature enough to understand what information age is. It shouldn’t ever be about the device but about what it does and accomplishes without coming on the way of user of the experience. It should never be about the OS but about you and what you care for most, and so far only Windows Phone was able to provide closest to paradigm of information age. And part of being open-minded I’d switch to any better (insert name of modern OS) the day it proves to be more efficient in this information overload age. For now its hands down Windows Phone.
