Facebook privacy is a topic that rarely finds itself out of the headlines, and today is no exception. A collection of morally dubious bodybuilders on an online forum seemed to have found a hack that lets you access and view private photos.

The Facebook trick exposes an open back door in the process involved in reporting a fellow user. Essentially, if you try and report someone for having an indecent image, Facebook will sometimes ask if you’d help them by pointing out any more of that user’s images that may be inappropriate. Even if they’re set to private.

Why Facebook privacy problems are your problems too

There are caveats to this, though. It’s been reported by, of all people, users on the Boldybuilding.com forum, who’ve then had mixed results. It seems that using different browsers proffers different results and that – for some reason – having your Facebook set to US English is the only way to get it to work.

While at least half of the people on the forum claim that the Facebook private photos hack doesn’t work, in several cases it does, which means it should present enough of a concern for Mark Zuckerberg; he’s already had some of his pics copied through this very method.
