Samsung’s transparent AMOLED displays have kept its staff busy in the dark confines of the South Korean company’s labs for years now, but they could soon be about to make it into consumer tech. To get us excited, they’ve produced a concept video of where the tech could take us.
The video shows someone with a kind of flexible, transparent and impossibly thin tablet wondering around town, letting the device soak up and react to his surroundings. It’s all incredibly futuristic stuff, but it’s a tantalising look at where the possibilities of having transparency and flexibility in screens could lie.

The transparent display tech’s been in the research stages at Samsung for some years, making the odd appearance in its unfinished form at the CES expo each January. It’s based on AMOLED tech, which self-lights, eschewing the need for bulky back lighting.
If you forgive the fact that the tablet user has what appears to be a pretty extreme case of ADHD, it’s amazing viewing. We’ll stop building it up now and let you watch what’s likely to launch at CES 2017 in action:
