Lovefilm’s movie streaming biz has been growing steadily since Amazon decided to buy it up. The Lovefilm Instant service is now available on PCs, PS3, iPads and smart TVs, but there’s one prime candidate that’s always been missing: The Xbox 360. That’s now been rectified, as Lovefilm instant for Xbox LIVE launches tomorrow (6th December).
If you’re going to hang around for so long, you’d better have a few tricks up your sleeve, and Lovefilm on Xbox LIVE certainly does: on top of having a few exclusive movies, Lovefilm Instant will let Kinect owners search for films and control playback with voice commands.
Opinion: Why I want to love lovefilm, but can’t
“It is an exciting day for Lovefilm customers and an auspicious day for the TV entertainment industry as a whole,” says Amazon’s Lovefilm CEO Simon Calver. “Launching LOVEFiLM Instant on Xbox 360 and Kinect means bringing the service to a million more living rooms – a huge achievement.”
For Xbox owners, lovefilm for Xbox 360 may well fill a gap that’s hitherto been growing ever more noticeable in the console’s online offerings. Lovefilm Instant subscriptions start at £5.99, which will give you access to all the movie streaming goodness on offer in a flash. Lovefilm for Xbox LIVE launches in the UK tomorrow, December 6th.
