South Park: The Game. Based on previous efforts, that’s a prospect you might be a little wary about. You’ve every right to be, but what if we told you that this one is written (and voiced) by Matt Stone and Trey Parker, and that the team behind Fallout: New Vegas is building it?
Here are the facts: Obsidian is a pair of safe hands, and they’ve been entrusted with South Park: The Game. It’s going to be an RPG. You play a new kid at South Park Elementary. You’ll have to befriend Cartman, Kyle, Stan, Kenny et al and defend the town against some of the series’ more notable foes (check the reflection in the pic for clues).
These details are all we know, and they’ve come ahead of Game Informer’s exclusive report in their January issue, but it should be enough to whet your appetite for now. We really, really hope this is good. Anyone who remembers the dire South Park FPS from the Playstation One era will know that it’s a license that doesn’t exactly guarantee quality.
Hopefully, with a team like Obsidian on board though, and a new direction in the RPG genre, South Park: The Game will live up to the standard we’ve come to expect from the TV show. Let’s just hope Stone and Parker keep a tight leash on things.
