Kinect has been a huge success for Microsoft in Europe and the US, with millions of sales and gamers making it the fastest selling gadget of all time when it was released late last year. But it seems Japanese gamers are not having any of it, with new figures showing that the motion control camera has sold a mere 114,000 units in its first year on sale.
The stat comes from Famitsu magazine in Japan, which has collated sales figures for every month since Kinect went on sale in November 2010. It comes as little surprise, with the Xbox 360 never really having caught on in the land of Sony and Nintendo.
Kinect reached a nadir in September, selling just 1,900 in Japan. Whether Microsoft can reverse the decline is unclear, especially with PlayStation Move selling well in Japan and catching the motion camera in other territories.
A worrying sign for Microsoft? Or just another case of it never being able to do the business in Japan? Let us know what you think of these Kinect sales figures down below now.
