Virgin Media customers, rejoice! Spotify is arriving on TiVo boxes today. It’s exclusive to Virgin and lets Spotify Premium subscribers tap into all their favourite tracks and playlists through their Virgin Media TiVo-enabled telly. Best of all, Virgin says you don’t need to do anything to enable it: Spotify will automatically appear in the Apps and Games section of your TiVo box. Call it an early Christmas present.
Virgin says the new Spotify app uses the TiVo box’s built-in broadband connection to stream music from Spotify. All you need is the usual TiVo remote control.
All the usual playlists, albums, artists and tracks are present and correct, and Virgin Media says Spotify’s addition is just the latest in “ongoing initiatives to develop the platform further with new features, applications and content.”
Spotify joins Virgin Media’s existing music videos, available through its TV On Demand service, its online video service and music download service on the Virgin Media mobile portal.
And there’s more to come too. Virgin Media says it’s “in discussion with other entertainment and content providers” to bring even more services to its set-top beauty. When we reviewed the Virgin Media TiVo service earlier this year, we couldn’t lavish enough praise upon it. Now it’s even better, we couldn’t slap Virgin Media on the back hard enough.
