Resident Evil 6 is on its way and the official announcement is going to be soon. That’s not just a feeling in our bones, but also due to word from Capcom and a few new bits of leaked information – most recently an actor who’s put the game in his CV.
Voice actor Joe Cappelletti was spotted to have added resident Evil 6 to his CV before swiftly removing it. Cappalletti has appeared in the Arkham Batman titles among many others, so it’s not a stretch.
It’s also not the first time that someone on the Resident Evil 6 team has let some info filter online; CG artist Shannon Justison added the game to her LinkedIn profile in August.
Resident Evil 6’s maker Capcom has admitted that it’s keen to get moving on the game. In 2010, head of production Keiji Inafune said “we want Resident Evil 6 to hit the market as soon as possible,” based on the huge success of Resident Evil 5. There was a swirl of rumours that the game was going to be unveiled in September of this year, although that ultimately came to nothing.
Unfortunately there’s no word on a setting for the game. After resident Evil 5 suffered criticism to do with supposedly racist elements in its African setting, we’d imagine Capcom will steer clear of a similar storm – even though it certainly didn’t hurt sales any.
In April, Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil 6 would be very different altogether, not just in setting. “The series will see a complete renovation with the next entry on every level,” said series producer Masachika Kawata. “I can’t say if we’re going to make it survival horror or a shooter, but I can say that it’ll be totally new.” He also mused that London might make a good setting.
As long as they make it easier to move and shoot at the same time, we’ll stomach the change. The only other piece of evidence (if you can call it that) on offer is the below teaser trailer, which Capcom has confirmed to be a fake:
