The PS Vita is just a few weeks away from hitting Japanese shelves. And if you’re still not convinced about whether to shell out £229 for one when it lands here in February, perhaps emerging news about the console’s stunning Remote Play capabilities might change your mind. See, word is that all PS3 games will play nice on the PS Vita, making the handheld an even tastier proposition than before.

The news comes from Eurogamer, which says it’s learned from an insider that gamers will be able to stream any game they fancy to the PS Vita. However, this will only be in a low-res 480×272, meaning it’s not ideal if you like eyeball-stroking detail.

Fortunately, a special Vita mode will allow developers to amp up the resolution on new releases, meaning things will look better as more games that work across both consoles come to market.

The feature is set to land as part of an as yet undated PS3 firmware update. While Sony has not confirmed plans, if true this could be a real clincher for PlayStation fans looking to take whatever title they fancy on the move.

My main question is how good is it going to be?  Remote play sounds ok for at home when someone else wants to watch the telly but when you are out and about?  Smacks of gimmickry to me.  Also the PSP support from Sony and games developers was dire – why would anyone put their faith in Sony making this one a hit? especially with the rise to phone gaming – who is going to make games for it?
