Gears of War 3 ended in pretty definitive style, right? So how can you wring yet more cash out of a gaming series that sells millions within the first week of each title’s release? Easy, you make prequels. That’s what’s coming from makers Epic Games, but are the new games destined for Microsoft’s next console, the Xbox 720?
The word is that Epic Games’ subsidiary company People Can Fly are working on a trilogy of Gears of War prequels, but with rumours now swirling that Microsoft is set to unveil the Xbox 720 next year, surely the next batch will be made in such a timeframe so that the first in the new trilogy will be an Xbox 720 launch title.
We can’t see the Xbox 720 actually going on sale in 2012, but if a plan to develop three new Gears of War titles is underway then the development time is more than likely to overflow into the next console generation. What do you think?
