Spotify, the global music streaming service du jour, has began sending out invites to a major announcement set to take place in New York city on Wednesday 30th November. While there’s no real clues in the invite, we have a feeling we know what it might be.
Spotify’s had the technology in place to show video since 2009. Users with free memberships will have been subjected to ad-supported streaming since day one, but in 2009 Spotify video ads jumped into the fray.
While there’s nothing explicit in the above invite, we’d suggest that Spotify might be planning to launch a video streaming service to rival the music video traffic currently being lapped up by YouTube.
