The Samsung Galaxy S3 may not be official (we’ll likely have to wait until February’s Mobile World Congress to see it), but that hasn’t stopped rumours pouring in over the last few weeks. Today, sources close to Samsung have hinted at the new Exynos quad-core chipset that’ll take the Galaxy S3 to the next level.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 had an Exynos 4210 dual-core processor beating within its innards. For the Samung Galaxy S3 to step up, most are expecting a quad-core architecture, and now evidence has been uncovered of an Exynos 4412 chip. The 4412 is a 32nm number, with each of the four ARM Cortex-A9 cores running up to 1.5GHz

According to sources close to Samsung, the Exynos 4412 is a “big step past the Galaxy Nexus class, in every way.” Samsung’s Galaxy S3 needs to pull out some serious weaponry to face the NVIDIA Tegra 3 chips that are bound for upcoming HTC handsets.

To that end, its suggested that Sammie will pour the Mali-T604 GPU into the Samsung Galaxy S3. It boasts 5x the graphical performance compared to the last generation of Mali graphics processors, and plays nice with quad-core devices. All in all, the Galaxy S3 is shaping up to be a complete monster.
