I have laptop with disc drive for about 5 years now – used it 5times max. So i think disc drives are history.

HDD’s are not much of a problems coz SSD’s are taking over and external hard drives are available, however i believe that cd drives are still a necessity and they should be a part of the new macbook pro line

I bought my MBP early 2011 in July. It arrived in August. Now there is a late 2011 version. Then there’s going to be a super slim MacBook out. And I am going to rage in envy :,(

As a professional or work laptop, the option for an optical drive needs to be present. I do not want to have to bring an external drive with me when I travel so that I can read or burn disks.
