Netflix has ramped up its planning ahead of its UK launch next year, unveiling an exclusive streaming deal with Lionsgate UK. The hook-up means that classics like Reservoir Dogs and The Blair Witch Project, as well as Sly Stallone’s woeful actioner The Expendables, will all be available to stream exclusively when Netflix launches on these shores next year.

The tie-up covers Lionsgate’s “first run films”. While this streaming-only exclusive might not seem like a big deal, it certainly is for Lovefilm, whose online offering is sorely lacking. Only last week, we were complaining about the Amazon-owned service’s lack of decent streaming content.

Lionsgate’s UK boss, Zygi Kamasa, has talked up Netflix’s “incredible service in North America” as a reason for this deal. And you can bet that where Lionsgate has led, others will follow.

Will you be ditching Lovefilm for Netflix next year? Or are you happy to stick with the former’s DVD by mail offering? Tell us down below in the comments.
