Asus and Acer have already slashed orders for their ultrabooks, as the super slim laptop category struggles to do the business PC makers had hoped. But now Lenovo reckons it’s got a solution, with plans to unleash a new 14-inch Ultrabook next year, costing just £499.

This new effort hasn’t been named yet, but has been spied in a leaked roadmap, which also reveals plans for two other ultrabooks. There’ll be a premium ultrabook, probably a follow up to the current ThinkPad X1, using an Intel Ivy Bridge processor.

There’s also talk of a new ThinkPad X1 Hybrid, which sources say will be hitting shelves as soon as this month. This notebook will pack in both Winodws 7 and Android, although its price is expected to remain prohibitively high.

Are Lenovo’s plans for a cheap ultrabook too little too late? Or can it succeed and help the laptop make up ground on the ever popular tablet? Tell us what you think now.
