Want to know what Nokia’s got lined up to follow its forthcoming Lumia 800 Windows Phone? Well, word has leaked out that it’s working on a device codenamed Nokia Champagne. This new blower is said to come packing the next-gen version of Windows Phone, dubbed Tango, with a release date expected early next year.

The Nokia Champagne was discovered in “I’m a WP7” app logs. While the device has not been detailed, the Tango build is expected to be made with Nokia phones in mind. The new version of the OS is expected to be developed for more affordable devices,  as Espoo looks to target emerging markets and the cheap end of the smartphone market.

This means the Nokia Champagne is more likely to resemble the basic Nokia 700, rather than the sleek, top-end Nokia Lumia 800. Expect to see this and a few more new Nokia Windows Phones, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which kicks off in February.

I’m guessing the reaction will be the same as all the reactions from consumers.

Meh…  Why would I buy a Windows Phone that:

1/ is not as good as even a basic Android phone.
2/ Is more locked down than an Android or even an iPhone
3/ Has virtually no customisation abilities
4/ Isn’t cheap, but feels like it.
5/ Is from Microsoft, the kings of “lock-in”.
