Rarely do we take much interest in dirt-cheap Android tablets (with good reason) but the new Scroll Excel announced today tosses in an extra unexpected feature: for £129.99, it’ll play back full HD 3D video too. Has a plucky British gadget just killed the 3D Blu-ray player?
It’ll only sling it to supported 3D tellies via a mini HDMI cable, mind, but the Scroll Excel, from British gadget company Storage Options, could prove quite a cheap way to sling stereoscopic video to your TV at only £129.99.
For your money, you get a 7-inch, 800×480 capacitive touchscreen, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM and Adobe Flash support – though no Android Market access. While 3D Blu-ray players are now available for the same place, most are unable to play back online 3D video from sites such as YouTube, so the Scroll Excel could make for an interesting new source of 3D content.
The Scroll Excel is available for pre-order now and will go on sale before the end of the year: the impressive list of supported video formats is below.
Full 1080p MPEG2, MPEG4, AVS, H.264, WMV, AVI, MP4, RMVB, FLV, MKV
