The Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the first Google phone to run Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich”, will go on sale in the UK on 17 November, the Korean gadget giant announced this morning. That gives the Nokia Lumia 800, Nokia’s big comeback, just one day on the shop shelves before another high profile rival hits: it is due to go on sale on 16 November.

Of course, if you’ve read our Nokia Lumia 800 review already, you’ll likely know that it’s not quite the same sort of phone for the same sort of person as a massive, HD smartphone running vanilla Android – the user interface is more simple, less flexible, though still beautiful. It also costs around £80 less online unlocked than the £549.99 Samsung Galaxy Nexus, depending on where you look. But if Nokia wants to stage a comeback, it needs all the breathing space it can get right now.

Based on what a lack of understanding or plain old ignorance. No doubt an i phone sheep wake up and look at bit closer before you trash it

I’d be pretty sure Nokia or Microsoft are not interested in converting Apple or Android users from switching over, there’s a far bigger market out there than the current smartphone market.

I’ll be buying the Nokia Lumia 800. I like how simple and easy it is to use, I like how smooth it runs, I like the live tiles and it looks stunning :-)
