We’ve been eagerly waiting to see what Apple would do with Siri, which it bought in 2010, and now we know: it’s baked it right into iOS 5 on the new iPhone 4S, and based on the demonstration at today’s press conference, it looks set to usher voice control into the mainstream and then some. The iPhone 4S is here, and ready to dominate once more, a year and a half after the iPhone 4 Changed Everything Again. The new iPod nano has just been announced, and well, it’s not changed a great deal from the little touchscreen watch we got last year. There have been software tweaks however, including larger icons a new Nike+ feature which requires no external gadgets, and Apple’s pushing the whole nano as watch thing hard with 16 new clock faces.

It’s out today, available in seven colours and two capacities, 8GB and 16GB. We’ll update with UK prices as soon as we get them.

We’re just an hour away from the iPhone press conference at Apple’s California HQ, but already things seem to be happening behind the scenes on the company’s website.

For at least a few minutes this afternoon, the iPhone order page was completely broken, as you can see from our screenshot. Both the UK and US stores appear to be working again now, but it suggests Apple could bee preparing things for pre-order already. Last year, Apple opened pre-orders for the iPhone 4 a week after it was first announced.
