You know the drill. Every time you snag tunes on your iPhone or iPod touch and then try and update that device in iTunes, you’re prompted to sync bought content first. Well, not any more.
As of last night, Apple has switched on iTunes automatic music downloads in the UK, meaning no more loading up tunes whenever you fire up your music library. Read on to find out how you can get involved.
Automatic iTunes downloads are as easy as they sound. You don’t need to install new software, the option is just there for you. To turn it on, just dive into your iTunes preferences, hit the store tab and check the music option. Once that’s done, any track you buy on an iOS device, different Mac or PC will automatically appear in your main collection on your machine at home.
Until now, automatic downloads have only worked for books and apps. But this subtle change makes snagging tracks on the move wherever you are even easier than before. It certainly gives an added shine to Apple’s burgeoning iCloud service.
