iTunes Match is still MIA despite the release of iOS 5 earlier this month. But the music back-up and streaming service appears to be edging closer to release, with news emerging from across the pond that iTunes Match settings have started appearing on iPhones. So when will it launch on these shores? Read on for all the details.

Stateside iPhone have started seeing a new toggle in the Music section of the Apple blower’s settings app. While this had been a developer feature, now regular punters can see it too. Sadly, users can’t sign up for the service yet, with the iPhone throwing up a notification to users to use iTunes on their Mac or PC to get involved.

Now, iTunes Match isn’t expected to land on iTunes until the release of version 10.5.1, expected in the next few weeks. Apple is still keeping schtum about just when the service is launching, although ‘Coming Soon’ banners are appearing on its UK and US iTunes stores.

It had been expected that iTunes Match would be a long time coming for British gadget fanatics, with talk of record labels in this country being wary of inking deals that would give Apple even more control over the music industry. However, it seems we could well be getting it sooner than we thought. US users are rumoured to be getting access to iTunes Match by the end of the month.
