iCloud is now out for all Mac OS X Lion and iOS 5 users, quietly working its way in the background to store all your important details and data in a server in a faraway land. It does also work with PCs however, something Apple hasn’t made much of a song and dance about. If you’re a Windows iPhone user, you’ll want to check out this free new download which lets you monitor it straight from your desktop.

Simply called iCloud Control Panel for Windows, it’s a control panel applet that can also be accessed through the notification area of the task bar, providing you’re running Windows Vista or Windows 7 (iCloud sadly does not work with Windows XP). Here, you can see just how much of your free 5GB of space you’ve clocked up with photos, as well as configure the Photo Stream.

iCloud also integrates contacts, tasks and calendars if you’re using Outlook, as well as bookmarks, though for the latter you’ll have to use Internet Explorer or Safari (humbug). Still, it’s a free download and definitely worth a whirl – get it at the link below.
