Google TV, the big G’s attempt to invade your living room and bring search to the sofa, is set to get a big update soon to version 2.0. And now, we think we know exactly when. The question is, will it be headed to Blighty at the same time?

Donagh O’Malley, head of Google TV, recently confirmed that the Android 3.1 update for Google TV, bringing with it support for regular mobile Android apps, would be coming in the next few weeks, and as TheGadgets points out, O’Malley is also speaking at the Streaming Media West conference in LA on 8 November.

His speech is entitled “Google TV Demo: The New World of Smart TVs”, and unless he’s planning on showing off year-old, not particularly well received software, we’d wager this is where Google TV 2.0 will be shown off in full.

The service, which integrates search and apps along with on-demand Flash video into HDTVs, has had a tough time so far, with major US content providers blocking access. We’re hoping that 8 November also brings us word of an international roll-out: British broadcasters are seemingly far less concerned about the medium through which programs are watched, so perhaps now is the time to strike. Apple isn’t going to leave that tiny little Apple TV alone for ever.

What would you like to see in Google TV 2.0? Any British must haves? Shout up in the comments with your thoughts.
