By now, you’ll likely have struggled through countless “Error 3200″ messages and got iOS 5 installed, up and running on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Sayonara, cable syncing! But as you’ve probably discovered by now, it’s more than just wireless updates and better notifications: you tell us what little gems you’ve discovered inside so far.
Yesterday, we covered some of our favourite iOS 5 secrets, the tweaks and tricks that make it such a welcome update, including everything from printing maps to LED alerts and text expansion shortcuts. Now that you’ve had a chance to play with it, share your favourite new changes in the comments below, and we’ll update the main article as we go.
Here are a few other bonus iOS 5 secrets we’ve found to get you started:
- Headphone settings: It’s quite spooky, but iOS 5 can detect what headphones you’re using and automatically switch back volume settings to those you had on last time they were plugged in. It’s perfect if you often switch between the regular in-ear headphones included with the iPhone, and better sounding, less portable over-ears.
- Clacky keys: We prefer to keep keyboard noises off completely, but if you use them, you’ll like this. iOS 5 automatically boosts the sound of key presses you can hear them over any music you’ve got playing.
- View app storage: Hit up Settings>General>Usage and blam! You can see just how much space all of your apps are gobbling up on your precious iPhone.
- Make your own vibration patterns: Not sure who’s ringing you when your phone is on silent? Go to Settings>Sounds and you can create your own custom vibration to apply to contacts. (You’ll need to turn them on in the Accessibility settings first).
