Take a look at the image above. At first glance you’d never guess it was computer-generated, let alone taken from a game released in 2008. But this really is a screenshot from Grand Theft Auto IV, a three year old game, albeit a heavily modified version with tweaked graphics and updated textures.

While the mainstream gaming world has moved on to obsessing over Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Driver San Fransisco (not to mention eagerly awaiting GTA 5), there are a hardcore of graphics tweakers pushing GTA 4 to the limit, and lately, they’ve achieved phenomenal results.

Samsung Galaxy W headed to O2 UK

The Samsung Galaxy W was one of the more low key announcements at IFA 2011 in Berlin this month, but  it is one of those, thankfully, Apple hasn’t had banned. The littler Samsung Galaxy S is on the way to the UK this month, with both Three and now O2 listing it as coming soon.

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy W is a 3.7-inch smartphone running Android 2.3. Its size and Super LCD (Rather than superior Super AMOLED Plus) make it a rival to the rather swanky HTC Desire S, though without the same aluminium chassis, it might come in at a lower price at the till.

Twitching for an iPad 3? You might not have too long to wait. Taiwan Economic News is reporting that Apple has employed suppliers Simplo and Dynapack for a much thinner battery for the iPad 3. If it’s employing suppliers, you can be sure the design is done and dusted, and Cupertino’s getting set to begin production.
