We knew it was coming, but now we know just when: the Windows Phone Mango 7.5 update begins rolling out in the UK starting…now.

“We’ll be releasing it to users tonight. It’ll be a gradual process over the coming weeks,” UK Windows Phone marketing boss Eric Hemerlee told journalists at a briefing today. The update won’t be simultaneous on every network, and we’d expect unlocked handsets to get it first, but it’s a good start, and should hopefully mean Mango is completely out in the wild just in time for Nokia’s expected big launch.

Not sure what to expect from Windows Phone Mango? Top of the list are much needed third party app switching, voice control, updates to the People Hub bringing cross platform instant messaging and groups, internet sharing and a web browser with hardware acceleration. Microsoft is also launching a web based version of the Windows Marketplace today.

Check out our hands on with a beta build of Windows Phone earlier this year in the video below, and stay tuned for a full review.
