Clear your schedule. In just under two weeks’ time, on Tuesday, October 4, Apple will officially unveil the iPhone 5.
That’s according to respected Tech Blog All Things Digital, which says Apple will hold a media event to showcase its new mobile, citing “sources close to the situation.”
What’s new in iPhone 5? Catch up on what we know so far
New Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to do the actual unveiling, although we wouldn’t be surprised to see Steve Jobs in the audience too, since he’s still Apple’s chairman.
Apple usually keeps to a tight schedule for product releases. September is usually new iPod season, and while this is a little later than usual, we’re also prepared for the launch of new music players.
And, while we’re adding two and two together, it’s important to bear in mind the other products that link the iPhone 5 and new iPods: iCloud and iOS 5. It’s extremely likely both of these will also launch on October 4. Could this new iPhone be the first to launch as part of a whole Apple family of products? Those expecting an iPhone 4S, or a cheaper iPhone will have everything crossed that’s the case.
