Street Fighter IV hadoukened its way on the iPhone a full year and a half ago, but Capcom’s classic beat’em up is still conspicuously absent on the world’s most popular smartphone platform, Android. The sad thing is, that’s not likely to change with the announcement that Street Fighter IV is coming to Android – it’s set to be an LG exclusive.

At a press conference in Seoul today, Capcom and LG revealed that Street Fighter IV will be coming to the latter’s “HD” (read: most expensive) Android smartphones when it’s released in Q4 this year, via the LG World apps portal.

That’s mildly irritating, and not just because Street Fighter IV received rave reviews for it touchscreen iOS port: the LG World apps portal isn’t available on every LG handset, and on every network in the UK (T-Mobile is conspicuously absent).

The good news is LG’s exclusive window is only three months, but if you’ve got a high powered Samsung, HTC or Sony Ericsson Android phone, it looks like you’ll be waiting until 2012. Oh well. At least by then you’ll be able to play it in a porn bunker.

Out Q4 2011 | £TBC | Capcom and LG
