Seldom are “smart TVs” actually that smart, but Samsung‘s line up of net-connected tellies have just been given a big shot of IQ with the addition of a Blinkbox movie channel, bringing Apple TV-style streaming rentals to your gogglebox.

The problem with many smart TV platforms is that there’s often nothing interesting to watch beyond BBC iPlayer, especially if you’re not a Lovefilm subscriber (And even then, Lovefilm’s streaming selection is poor). But Blinkbox, the a la carte movie rental service for PCs (and some set top boxes), is now available on Samsung Smart TVs.

While image quality isn’t spectacular (give us HD rentals on the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live anyday), the offering is top notch, with brand new Hollywood releases available to watch for between £2-4 a pop. Check it out now and let us know how you get on.
