Thought the £99 HP TouchPad was a bargain? Wait until you get a load of this: earlier this week, Vodafone accidentally sold the rather swish Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, complete with a year’s worth of data, for less than the price of er, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Oops.

Earlier this week, a reader tipped us off to a rather spectacular deal that had appeared on Vodafone’s site, and after hawk-eyed bargain hunters got in early, was quickly pulled. For a brief period of time, Vodafone sold the 32GB 3G Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 for £229 upfront, with a 12-month, £15 per month 2GB data tariff.

In total, that’s £409 for a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 that’s yours to keep, with a year’s worth of data. Our reader also got £25 back by buying through Quidco, taking it to just £384. When you consider that this model is retailing without any data contract for £579, well, that’s an utter bargain.

We confirmed with Vodafone that this pricing was indeed a mistake, but for those who got in early, the network says it will honour the mix-up, so long as customers pass the standard credit check.

“We’re aware of the situation, the initial price wasn’t correct,” a spokesperson told Electricpig. “Customers who ordered the device can rest assured that we will honour the deal, subject to customers passing standard credit check. In the meantime we’re continuing to sell the device for £499 including VAT on a 12-month, £15 per month contract, which includes 2GB of UK data and 2GB of BT OpenZone Wi-Fi.”

A saving of £270 on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1? We should really shop around more.

[Thanks for the tip, reader!]

But Vodafone is refusing to horner most of the purchases. I am on of the people who made the purchase but somehow they seem to come up with excuses every time
