It’s been such a long wait for Final Fantasy Versus 13 that it almost feels mythical now. The game has been on the cards since 2006 and we heard in August last year that the Final Fantasy Versus 13 release date was unlikely to fall in 2011. Now, game director and Final Fantasy character artist, Tetsuya Nomura, has raised the game in an interview.

Speaking to Dengeki PlayStation in Japan, Nomura says Final Fantasy Versus 13 will not be shown at this year’s Tokyo Game Show in September which is disappointing. However, he confirms that a date has been set to show the game in public, once again raising the prospect of a release. Thankfully with Square Enix celebrating Final Fantasy’s 25th birthday this year, we can still expect plenty of announcements at the Tokyo Game Show to distract us.

Despite showing a Chrome OS tablet concept early last year and evidence that a prototype codenamed Seaboard was being tested, Google played down the idea of Chrome OS tablets at I/O in June. That hasn’t stopped the open source types working on the Chromium project from toying with the idea.

Chromium (the browser rather than the OS) has been tarted up with a touch-friendly UI and captured on video. It includes far larger icons, widgets and a virtual keyboard which could all be used on a future Chrome OS tablet.

Though the Chromium implementation is experimental, it definitely hints at how Chrome OS could make the jump to touchscreens and is worth a look. See for yourself after the break and let us know what you make of it…

The prospect of iTunes Replay, an iCloud-based movie streaming service which would allow you to re-download previous purchases for free, was revived in a string of rumours last week. However, reports from the US have now doused those claims with the cold, cold water of reality.

While the latest Apple TV update gave US owners the ability to stream any previously purchased TV show from the cloud, it seems arguments over rights have stopped the iTunes Replay plans in their tracks. Apple is reportedly struggling to get all the major movie studios on board and that doesn’t bode well for the UK…

The expansion of Google+ continues apace. After oddly choosing not to make its Google+ iOS app universal when it was released last month, it has now updated it to include iPad and iPod touch users. It’s a fairly rough update though with the iPad basically getting a blown up version of the iPhone interface rather than a dedicated redesign. Still, Google+ Android app users rocking Android Honeycomb tablets have the same issue so it’s not discrimination!

Like the recent Google+ Android update, the new version of the iOS app features improved Huddle settings and aggregated notifications to make the whole experience a lot less noisy. It also promises the kind of performance and stability improvements you’d expect from a service that’s still in its teething period. You can grab the updated Google+ iOS app at the link below. Hit the headline and jump into the comments to let us know what you think of it.
