According to iLounge, the new iOS 5 beta 6 released to developers on Friday now prompts Nike+ users that workout data no longer requires iTunes to sync. The previous option to “send workouts to Nike+” via iTunes has been retired.

Microsoft courts webOS developers with free phones, tools and trainingThey say that when one door closes another opens. Following HP’s webOS announcement Friday, Microsoft has decided to aim for the jugular by offering free devices, tools and training to “any published webOS devs”. Though all signs indicate webOS will live on, the road ahead just became even more grueling.

Microsoft’s Senior Director of Windows Phone 7 development, Brandon Watson, spoke volumes in his 140 character tweet this morning. The news of his invitation for published webOS devs to join team Windows Phone spread like wildfire. Currently there are just under 30,000 apps in the Windows Marketplace. Far less than either Android or iOS, but still a sizable collection.

Nokia N8 camera update arrives with continuous auto focus, 30 fps videoThe wait is over. Our friends at Nokia Beta Labs have just released an update to the N8’s native camera application. The update, available free at the Beta Labs website, adds support for continuous auto focus and 30fps video recording. First a Symbian Anna update and now a camera update? Not a bad month for the Symbian flagship if you ask us.

It’s no secret the Nokia N8 has an incredible camera. Up until today its video capabilities trailed behind the still photography. Taking the video recording speed from 25fps to 30fps opens the door to capturing fast-action video clips. Combined with continuous auto focus, the N8 not only replaces your point and shoot camera, it also replaces an entry-level video camera.

Our recent hunt for Google+ celebrities was pretty successful and now Google has made it even easier to spot the real famous folk from the fakes. Just like Twitter verified accounts, Google+ is rolling out verified identity badges on the profiles of public figures. So now you’ll know that’s definitely Dolly Parton sharing cute videos.

Google+ team member Wen-Ai Yu announced the verified badges on her Google+ page. Google hasn’t explained how many followers a user needs to qualify for a badge but almost every account on our list of Google+ celebrities now boasted the little grey circle with a tick mark inside.

Yu says Google is “focused on verifying public figures, celebrities and people who have been added to a large number of Circles” but suggests all users will be able to verify their profiles in the future. You can see her explain the verification process on video after the break…
