At IFA 2011 this morning, Samsung unveiled its new Series 7 Chronos laptop. Powered by an Intel i7 quad-core processor, this 15-inch laptop touts an ultra-slim bezel which accommodates a 15.6-inch display. The aluminum body, black chiclet keys and over-sized trackpad look awfully familiar; thankfully these similarities are only skin deep.
The Series 7 Chronos laptop is fueled largely by Samsung’s proprietary technologies. Using Samsung’s FastStart, the laptop can wake in just two seconds while QuickBoot boots the machine from off to Windows 7 in just 19 seconds. Samsung’s Battery Life Plus technology helps keep 80 percent of the original battery’s capacity for up to 1,500 charging cycles; that’s nearly five times longer than competing notebooks.
Samsung’s proprietary technologies even extend to the 15.6-inch display. Using Samsung’s Superior LCD technology, the display runs at HD+ (1600×900 pixel) resolution, offering 300nit brightness, 16 million colors and an anti-reflective screen film. Even the audio is an in-house creation thanks to Samsung’s SoundAlive technology
There’s no shortage of Samsung technologies inside and outside the Series 7 Chronos laptop. In addition to the 15-inch model, a smaller 14-inch model weighing just 2.17kg will be released. Both laptops are just 23.9mm thin and include automatic dimming backlit keyboards and LCD’s. Standard configurations include 8GB DDR3, Radeon HD6750M, Core i7 2675QM (2.2 GHz), 750GB hard drive, SuperMulti dual layer DVD burner and Windows 7 professional 64-bit.
