Fresh images have surfaced of an alleged iPhone prototype. The N94 prototype is thought to be that of the iPhone 4S and carries an EVT (Engineering Verification Test) label dated June 7, 2011. This is not the first time we’ve seen mention of the prototype model, N94 has appeared in SDK code dating back to iOS 4.3. Is this the iPhone 5?
Based on the SDK code we know the N94 sports an A5 processor, the same dual-core chip currently residing in the iPad 2. As is customary with Apple, each year the iPhone follows the iPad and uses the same processor. The A4-powered iPhone 4 sports a N90 model number on GSM networks and N92 for CDMA (Verizon).
According to MacRumors, the N94 prototype has a redesigned antenna with support for T-Mobile USA. The dual-core A5 chip is under the hood and design is only a slight departure from the current iPhone 4. Based on this information it leads us to believe this might just be the alleged “budget iPhone 4” we reported on earlier this week. If it is in fact the iPhone 5, you can consider us shocked.
