Sony-Ericsson-Xperia-Neo-v-1

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo was a nice but fairly underwhelming addition to the Xperia Play line. Now it’s returned in a new more affordable form as the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo v, heading up the charge as 2011′s Xperia handsets get an Android Gingerbread 2.3.4 update.

Read on to find out what’s different about the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo v and when the rest of its Xperia brethern will be getting the latest taste of Gingerbread…

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo v will arrive in Q4 2011 with a 3.7in TFT Reality Display using the Mobile Bravia engine, a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor and Android Gingerbread 2.3.4.

The new Xperia handset will cheaper than its predecessor, opting for a 5MP AF camera with 16x digital zoom rather than the 8MP model found nestling in the Xperia Neo. It’ll also grab 720p HD video and has a front-facing VGA camera.

Sony Ericsson’s recipe for the Android Gingerbread 2.3.4 update will bring 3D sweep panorama, enhanced Facebook integration (including sharing songs straight from the FM radio app), support for USB peripherals, swipe text input and screenshot capture.

While the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo v will ship with the new features, the rest of this year’s Xperia line will receive the update in a phase rollout through October. That means if you’ve picked up the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, Xperia Arc, Experia Pro, Experia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro, October’s looking good for you.
