Day one on the job as CEO and Tim Cook has already set the stage for his tenure leading Cupertino’s finest. In an email released this morning, he lead off by saying, “Apple is not going to change” and that “we are going to continue to make the best products in the world”. He also confirmed Steve Jobs new role as Chairman, a position which will provide guidance and inspiration for the company. While the future of Apple’s products remains in peril, addressing concerns out the gate is a great way to start.
Steve Jobs is Apple — we can’t argue that. On the contrary, he alone did not design and engineer every successful product. The same team that stood behind him will remain with Tim Cook. The real question is whether Mr. Cook has the ‘magic’ in his DNA. From an employee standpoint, his email vows the company and culture will remain “unlike any other in the world” and will continue to “celebrate Apple’s unique principles and values”.
Are Apple’s best years truly ahead? Only time will tell, but like 50 — he best have the ‘magic stick’.
