The Nokia 700, Nokia 701 and Nokia 600 smartphones debuted this morning, complete with the latest build of Symbian (Belle) and single-tap NFC sharing and pairing. To commemorate the launch and extend the range of NFC-enabled accessories, Nokia has also announced the Essence bluetooth stereo headset. It’s a huge day for Symbian and NFC, let’s begin.
The Nokia 700 earns its stripes as the company’s most compact Symbian smartphone. Measuring 110 x 50.7 x 9.7 mm and weighing just 96 grams, the Nokia 700 is the most compact touch mono block smartphone in the world. Don’t let the size fool you, the phone features a 1 GHz processor, 3.2-inch AMOLED ClearBlack screen, 2GB of internal memory, microSD card slot (up to 32GB cards), and a 5-megapixel camera capable of HD video capture.
The Nokia 701 touts the world’s brightness mobile phone display. Based on a 3.5-inch ClearBlack screen, the Nokia 701 is perfect for indoor or outdoor use. Add in active noise cancellation for crystal clear audio, NFC pairing and sharing, and you’re looking at a compelling addition to the Symbian range. The Nokia 701, like the 700, uses a 1 GHz processor, but raises the bar with its 8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. There’s 8GB of internal memory and support for 32GB microSD cards for a potential storage capacity of 40GB.
The Nokia 600 carries on as the company’s loudest smartphone to date. With a built-in FM radio antenna, the Nokia 600 registers an earth-shattering 106 Phons. You’ll have up to 60 hours of music playback off this incredibly powerful internal loudspeaker or the ability to stream music wirelessly to NFC-enabled accessories.
Wrapping up the Nokia announcements today was the Nokia Essence bluetooth stereo headset. The headset uses special active noise cancellation technology to eliminate up to 99.8 percent of background noise. Using NFC technology, the bluetooth headset can be paired by any NFC-enabled smartphone by simply tapping the two devices together.
