The latest Android Honeycomb tablet steps into the octagon on August 29th. Now available at lenovo.com, the ThinkPad tablet is offered in three flavors: $499 (£302) 16GB Wi-Fi only, $569 (£344) 16GB Wi-Fi + 3G and $669 (£495) 32GB Wi-Fi + 3G. Will the slate’s 1 GHz Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM and optional digitizer pen be enough to persuade Android users away from the Galaxy Tab 10.1 or Eee Pad Transformer?
Success among Android tablets is certainly a moot point. While the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Asus Eee Pad Transformer have enjoyed successful launches, there’s dozens of other Honeycomb tablets failing to gain traction. The Lenovo ThinkPad tablet hopes to separate itself from the competition by becoming the official Android Honeycomb tablet for business.
Lenovo ThinkPad tablet targets the professional by offering an optional digitizer pen plus corporate email and security features. The added security protects network passwords for safe communication both inside and outside your network. Additionally, SD card encryption, lost device disablement, anti-theft software and integrated cloud sharing and storage make the ThinkPad the tablet for business.
RIM has the BlackBerry PlayBook and now Lenovo has the ThinkPad. Let’s see which slate wins the approval of the professional tablet market. The Lenovo ThinkPad tablet is now available in the US storefront which an expected ship date of August 29th. A launch in the UK should follow shortly.
