Prepare to have your inner Jedi blown. EA has announced plans to avoid potential server capacity issues for the upcoming launch of its MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. Launch quantities of both the retail and digital versions of the game will be limited to “ensure players have a smooth and high quality game experience”.
If you were thinking about holding off on that Star Wars: The Old Republic pre-order, think again. EA, while speaking with Gamasutra, said that, “all versions of the game — physical and digital — are available for pre-order on a limited basis only. Once they are gone, they are gone.” It appears the game’s record pre-orders have the team at EA walking on egg shells.
Despite its limited availability, Star Wars: The Old Republic is still on track for a 2011 release. Anyone else planning to pre-order the game following today’s news?
